Goretty’s version:

It was during our final semester at Western, when we were both at a party and a mutual friend introduced us. I was already a couple drinks in and only had one thing on my mind. I wanted to get to the bars to hit the dance floor for my second workout of the day. Amidst the chatter and laughter, I exchanged a quick “Hi” before setting off to find my friends.

As time passed, I found myself encountering Tom more frequently at the bars, Two Dog or the Forum, despite his preference for a different scene than the typical barlife.

Following graduation, there came a period when we started talking only for me to completely stop responding. I panicked. Yet, fate had its way of nudging us together once more. I recall a conversation with my friend April, where I made a promise to her that the next guy who would ask me out would receive a YES. Lo and behold, on December 13, 2013, I extended a “Happy Birthday” wish to Tom, unwittingly setting the stage for our journey ahead. 

Our love story commenced on January 4, 2014, with our inaugural date marking the beginning of a remarkable chapter. Eventually, I moved in with Tom, and Tom embraced not only me but also my trio of beloved dogs - CeCe, Messi, and Xavi.

Years down the road, we took the monumental step of purchasing a home together, and getting engaged in September 2022. Little did we anticipate that just a month later, we would find out we were pregnant.

In due time, we welcomed our precious daughters, Isla Diane in June 2022 and Teaghan Anais in August 2023.
